Smoking and Brain Neoplasm: An Immunohistochemical Data Evaluating Caspase-3 and MMP-2 in Rat Brain

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background and Aim: Smoking has been extensively investigated in oncology, controversial associations with brain tumor incidence have reported. Caspase-3 matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) belong to an important cascade vasculogenesis. We aim study the smoking impact on these signaling molecules nontumoral rat tissue. Methods Materials/Patients: A total of 60 Wistar rats were divided into two groups: treatment (cigarette smoke/electronic cigarette) control groups subgroups male female rats. After general anesthesia decapitation, their brains collected, 3-μm thick coronal sections prepared. Following immunohistochemical staining rabbit anti-MMP-2 anti-caspase-3 antigens, protein expressions analyzed by selecting fields at 400x magnification. Results: Our data suggest that expression MMP-2 was not significantly different between studied groups. However, significant inductive activity cigarette observed caspase-3. Conclusion: Cigarette indicates pro-tumoral normal tissue activation caspase-3

Immunohistochemical Assessment of Inflammation and Regeneration in Morphine-Dependent Rat Brain

Background: Opioids are amongst the most common abused drugs. Pathologic studies on opioid abuse are limited since the evaluation of inflammation and regeneration in brain tissue is not as simple as other tissues of the body. Thus, the present study aimed to determine the relationship between the dependence on morphine and inflammatory and regenerative processes. Methods: In this experimental s...

Effect of doxycycline and meloxicam on cytokines, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, matrix metalloproteinase-3, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-3 and cyclooxygenase-2 in brain

Objective(s): Prevention of inflammation in early stages will be useful in maintaining vitality of the organism. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of doxycycline (DOX) or meloxicam (MLX) monotherapy and combination therapy on the levels of inflammatory mediators in the brain tissues of rats with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced br...

Somatostatin-containing neurons in the mouse brain: an immunohistochemical study and comparison with the rat brain.

The distribution of somatostatin-containing neurons in mice of both sexes was immunohistochemically examined and compared with that in rats. In radioimmunoassay the relative somatostatin content in the mouse brain was 2-3 times higher than that in the rat. The overall immunohistochemical staining for somatostatin was much stronger and more prominent in the mouse than in the rat. Although the di...

Effects of Aerobic Training on Caspase-3 Expression and Apoptosis in Hippocampus of Rats after Brain Ischemic Stroke

Introduction: Although exercise is an effective strategy for preventing and treating stroke, the extent of this effect seems to depend on when exercise begins. Apoptosis plays a critical role after stroke. However, it is unclear whether early exercise inhibits apoptosis after stroke? The aim of this study was to determine the effect of eight weeks of early aerobic training after stroke inductio...

Renin in rat and mouse brain: immunohistochemical identification and localization.

1. Localization of renin in rat and mouse brain was determined by immunohistochemical methods with specific anti-renin antibodies. 2. Renin-containing neuronal cells were found in the medulla oblongata, cerebellar nuclei and hypothalamus. Purkinje cells contained renin. 3. Glia-like cells contained renin. Some of them are closely associated with vascular walls and these vascular walls were reni...
